“I woke up around 5 am. I used to live in an improvised neighborhood in Caracas. I remember getting out of my house and looking to the sunrise and telling to myself that was probably the last time I was going to be able to witness something like that in my country.
I didn’t know what was going to happen. After I moved I felt more connected to my country than when I was living there. As an outsider, all I have is my identity and nobody can’t take it away from you.
That last memory, of the sunrise, helps me to appreciate who I am and not to forget being present.”
